If you are a resident of the Region of Waterloo (Ontario, CA) or its surroundings, be advised that KW LinuxFest 2018 has been announced and will take place on Saturday, 27 January 2018. This will be the 3rd conference of its kind in the Region of Waterloo where it saw its début in January 2015. The CFP ("Call For Papers") has been announced with a deadline date of 01 November 2017. The Region of Waterloo has gained the reputation of a hotbed of high tech innovation, spurred by its complement of yearly graduates in high tech from its two local universities (University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University) and Conestoga College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning. This, along with a long list of high tech industry-makers such as Google, Amazon, Communitech, Accelarator Centre, D2L, OpenText, Blackberry, to name a few, have made the Region of Waterloo one of Canada's darling of high tech innovation. So much so, that University of Waterloo high tech graduates continues to top 3rd on the list of most favoured providers of high tech personnel for Silicon Valley [1].

With a growing pool of local high tech talent, the KW Linux Fest aims to showcase the Region of Waterloo local talent and support of Linux activities as well as those of opensource projects.

Mark your calendars and visit the KWLinuxFest website often. Attendance at the conference will be through online registration (soon to open) -- register early (as soon as the attendee registration links open).
